Abundant bikes are one of the crucial attributes of a truly smart, liveable city. In Singapore, the growing fleet of bicycles elevates an already excellent transport infrastructure. Several app companies such as Ofo, Mobike and oBike rush to provide an easy access to two-wheel rides anywhere on the island. With peak commutes during weekday mornings and evenings, bikes serve as an excellent “last mile” transport for office workers, especially when placed right next to bus and train stops. While we are excited about electric cars and Hyperloop pods, could bike sharing – environmentally friendly and great for health – be the most important recent development in transportation?
